I strongly agree you shouldn't leave your ship automatically when you dock. You should go to the old ship view with an "enter station" button that takes you to your quarters.

What they should do is simply make it so when you dock at a station you don't automatically leave your spaceship. It goes to hangar view. Then, if you want to leave the ship, you click the "leave ship" icon and you go to the CQ where you can look ...
